Music on the choir of the church of St. Lawrence in Náchod

This bachelor thesis gives an overview about church music in the church of St. Lawrence in Náchod since the 16th century to contemporaneousness. The first mention of music in the dean's church originates in the first half of the 16th century, when a Literati Brotherhood was operating there, which is dealt with in a separate chapter. The church choir can be considered as its modern successor. The work mentions a non-liturgical musical production in the dean's church, which is nowadays organised mainly by various Náchod choirs. The main goal of this thesis is to find out as much information as possible about organists and choirs of St. Lawrence's church in Náchod. Organists-schoolmasters from the 17th to the 19th century are mentioned in here. The thesis deals with the 20th century in more detail, especially with its 2nd half. In the 20th century, musicians at the choir of St. Laurence's church were often inherently connected with the musical activity of the town. Some of them led Pěvecký sbor Hron (choir), conducted brass bands and orchestras or played the piano to accompany silent films. Organ works of Olivier Messiaen and inspiration for organ improvisation

Thesis‘ aim is to analyze selected organ pieces of Olivier Messiaen with respect to compositional elements which can be used during organ improvisation. Thesis focuses on pieces of composer‘s early period. In the introduction is outlined composer‘s biography and his extraordinary relationship to organ and basic elements of his musical speech are described. Actual analysis of individual pieces focuses on harmonical, rhytmical and melodical components of pieces, as well as their musical forms. Subsequently, evaluation of suitability of particular piece for improvisation is made, proposals for practising improvisation are presented and possibilities for modification of pieces are listed. Apart from theoretical analysis thesis focuses on description of practical ways how can be the knowledge discovered during analysis applied in praxis.
Music in crematoria and tradition of the krematorium Pardubice artistic group

The bachelor thesis deals with music in the crematoria and tradition of the artistic team of the crematorium in Pardubice. The first chapter characterizes the meaning and tradition of funeral ceremonies across history and religious denominations. The second one describes the history of crematoria in Bohemia and Europe. The third chapter is about the architecture of the Pardubice crematorium and the fourth one depicts the beginning of the local musical production and artistic background. The fifth chapter deals with the development of the artistic group in Pardubice, it provides a list of all the musicians who have worked here between 1923 and 2018. The last chapter defines the repertoire of the ensemble and its development.
POSITION OF ORGANIST IN THE SLOVAKIAN SOCIETY

Work and activity of organist is in Slovakia for several centuries a long tradition. As in the past also at present remains a function of organist an important site of spiritual life, but also even from the perspective of professional music business. In Slovakia are seen various professions of musical life as singers, conductors, pianists and violinists, but the music profession of organist is in recent years slowly losing the awareness of especially the younger generation. The objective of our thesis is therefore to bring more activities of the Slovak organist, his job resulting from his duties either as a church musician, a professional organ musician or a teacher. Part of our thesis is also mapping out a situation of the social enforcement and the position of organist in the Slovak society.
Tradition in interpretation of Czech organ repertoire of the 2nd half of the 20th century

The thesis provides a list of the most important organ compositions written in second half of the 20th century by several Czech composers. The second chapter analyses Kabeláč?s 4 Preludes for Organ and Mácha?s set 3 Toccatas for Organ. The notes about registration are attached as well as other instructions about the sheets interpretation based on the experience and whitness of the performer, who personally attended premieres of these compositions. The third chapter captures Associate professor Václav Rabas?s authentic observations.
